One of the biggest additions to Infinite Warfare Multiplayer is the introduction of Combat Rigs. So read on for a primer that will prepare you for the beta launch and beyond. It’s worth noting that while some things will feel familiar to Call of Duty veterans, there is also a ton of new stuff in here. The first weekend of the Beta will kick off on Friday, October 14 at 10am PDT / 5pm GMT on PlayStation 4, and Infinity Ward has provided some inside intel on what you can expect. I was eyeing Black Ops Cold War, since it's also on sale rn, but coming off of this, I feel like I'd just be making a giant mistake. The clock is ticking, and every second brings us ever closer to the launch of the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Multiplayer Beta. In the end I was glad it was over, and this is a short game mind you. It's a shame that I can't exactly say that about the villains in this game, they're rather forgettable. He's not the kind I might have wanted, but if you squint and pretend it's a new character, he gives you a good show. They have also created a nice new version of Captain Price. in exchange we get some better characterization. It's such a low-hanging fruit, but the most you ever get is to crash some drones into enemies.īut ok. Can I have some actual fun and engaging gameplay variety instead? CoD has never been a stranger to vehicle sections f.e., so their absence here is absolutely baffling. We are also offered to torture someone ourselves later on. The game also very much wants us to know about the insurgent protagonists' backstory, so we get sections where we play as a child and then later on some good old torture. Those brilliant blokes had the idea to let you kill more than one dude with it this time. The next best noteworthy thing was the sniping gameplay, the very same that debuted in the year 2007. Most of the gameplay was just the same old stuff no one needs to play.

Everything appeared rather mundane and not really memorable. The problem is that to me this was the only interesting and fresh gameplay element the game could provide, and because the events weren't quite as unhinged as we're used from the series, the action did precious little to fill the void. I don't want to make it sound better than it is, but it was a nice mission.

Later during the game you also get a mission that utilizes nighttime stealth gameplay to provide more freedom, where you are allowed to explore an estate at your own pace, tackling objectives in your order of choice. The way you methodically clear buildings, floor by floor, while you can never be sure that the person you just roused out of sleep might grab a Kalashnikov or not - it's just very well done. They also put a lot of effort into the nightvision and suffice it to say, those missions are hands down the best in the game. I like how accurately they have portrayed the Russian soldiers here in particular. It's not as crazy as it used to be and we're "just" chasing after some chemicals which got into the hands of terrorists, while helping an insurgency against Russian occupiers. I understand they took a more "grounded" approach to the story and events this time. I had played most Call of Duty campaigns up to this one and I gotta say, I'm not impressed.
